FIRST EVENT

Botanica Queer
An explosive journey through nature, diversity, and creativity.

A botany lesson in high heels, exploring the Queer essence of the plant universe. A reflection on the relationship between humans and nature.
What does botany have to do with Queer Culture? Could it be that a biologist and a drag queen might arrive at the same conclusions?

Between odes to plant physiology, songs to stimulate the root systems of trees, eco-feminist insights, and collective choreographies, Demetra will try to answer these and other questions — starting from a single flower.

Ulisse Romanò
After graduating in Biological Sciences, he chose the path of theatre and dance-theatre.
He trained at the Scuola Internazionale di Teatro of Kuniaki Ida (Lecoq method) in Milan. He has worked, among others, with Cristina Pezzoli, Atir, Eleonora Moro, and Juan Diego Puerta Lopez. He is co-founder of the company ENZ danzateatro sociopoetica, and collaborates with numerous Italian and international artists.

In 2007, he joined Le Nina’s Drag Queens as Demetra, an impossible object of desire.

SECOND EVENT

Biodiversity: Is it worth the effort?
A journey through images, sounds, and words to discover the wonder and urgency of biodiversity.

In recent years, we hear more and more about it: biodiversity is important, it is a heritage to preserve, all forms of life, even the smallest, are essential and must be conserved… but why?

What advantage does our species have in committing to such a difficult challenge? Is it worth the effort? The answer is a resounding yes, and not just because it is ethically right to ensure the survival of all the other “tenants” of the Earth on a planet that is not only ours. The answer is yes, especially because the diversity of life means richness. Richness of possibilities, strategies, solutions, responses to problems. Richness of food, materials, medicinal principles, energy production methods, and economic wealth. Above all, richness of responses to the challenges that a planet in crisis presents to us, from climate change to world hunger.
